Energy built into the home, not added as another task

In the Veenrijck new-build development in Nijkerkerveen, the residents of 110 homes get more than solar panels on their roofs. They move into a home with an energy system that is already registered, already generating power and ready for dynamic electricity tariffs, with three years of aftercare included. Developer Van de Mheen, installer Just Solar, Dutch manufacturer Taylor and energy supplier Frank Energie make that possible together. For the resident, the main benefit is simple: everything is taken care of.

A new home, not a new energy project

People buying a new-build home want a place to live. They do not want to manage registrations, energy contracts, apps and system settings. Yet residential energy is becoming increasingly complex.

The Dutch net metering scheme ends on 1 January 2027. From that point on, it will matter not only how much electricity a home generates, but especially when that energy is used, stored or fed back into the grid.

Residents of Veenrijck receive the keys to their homes around the time this change takes effect. Their homes are therefore designed for the post-net-metering era. Solar generation, battery storage, smart energy control and the option of a dynamic energy contract are part of the solution from the moment the home is delivered.

Four parties, one point of contact

The difference lies in how the entire chain is organised. Each party focuses on what it does best, while for the resident it feels like one complete solution.

Van de Mheen builds the homes and coordinates the energy infrastructure with Just Solar from the design stage onwards.

Just Solar designs, installs and registers the systems. Its role runs from the initial plans through to connection to the electricity grid, with certified installation in accordance with InstallQ, NEN 3140 and NEN 1010. After handover, Just Solar remains the resident’s main point of contact.

Taylor supplies the complete energy system as a Dutch manufacturer, from solar panel to app, and provides Just Solar with technical support from the Netherlands.

Frank Energie gives residents direct access to a dynamic energy contract, allowing them to benefit from changing electricity prices from day one.

If a resident has a question, they contact Just Solar. Just Solar, in turn, has one manufacturer behind the entire system. That prevents questions from getting stuck between different suppliers.

“A homebuyer wants a house that works, not a pile of forms about solar panels, energy contracts and apps. We manage the entire process, from the first drawing through to aftercare. With Taylor, we have one system and one manufacturer behind us, which makes it possible to deliver the same quality across 110 homes.”

One system, from rooftop to app

Just Solar chose Taylor because the key components come from one supplier and are designed to work together.

In Veenrijck, the system includes Taylor solar panels with Nano Optimizers, a Taylor 8K hybrid inverter and the Taylor Energy Manager. Homes with battery storage use the modular EQ6000 in a 12 kWh configuration.

That has practical benefits both on the roof and inside the home:

More energy from the same roof. Nano Optimizers optimise each one-sixth section of a panel individually. If a dormer, chimney or dirt creates partial shading, only a small part of the system is affected. In a field study with Delft University of Technology, this delivered up to 20% additional yield in situations with self-shading and tree shading.

Lower conversion losses on the way to the battery. From the solar panels to the battery, the system remains on direct current (DC). Systems using microinverters or string inverters convert the electricity twice before it reaches the battery. Taylor avoids those extra conversion steps, reducing conversion losses by around 60%.

Fewer components. The hybrid inverter combines inverter functionality and battery control in one device. This saves space inside the home and reduces the number of components where faults can occur.

European data, always accessible. All data is stored and processed on European servers. The system can be accessed remotely through the network or built-in 4G connectivity.

For Just Solar, one system also means one consistent way of working. Installers and support teams use the same software and build up the same system knowledge. What is learned on the first home can be applied just as effectively to the 110th.

Dynamic tariffs, handled automatically

A battery only creates real value when it charges and discharges at the right times. The Taylor Energy Manager takes care of that automatically. The system responds to solar generation, household consumption and current electricity prices.

Through Frank Energie, residents can take out a dynamic energy contract straight away. The Taylor Energy Manager charges the battery when electricity is cheap, uses stored energy when electricity is expensive and feeds electricity back into the grid when that makes financial sense.

If exporting power is not worthwhile, for example when the battery is full and electricity prices are low or negative, the system automatically reduces solar generation. This helps residents avoid feed-in costs for electricity that has little or no value.

The Taylor Energy Manager can also use the battery for energy trading, creating additional opportunities to shorten the payback period.

Residents do not need to manage any of this themselves. In the Taylor app, they can see what is happening: how much energy their roof is generating, how much they are using directly, how much is going into the battery and how much the system is saving them financially.

Keys in hand, system already running

Just Solar has carefully organised the handover to residents. They receive their own brochure about the energy system and can attend an information day.

Just Solar takes care of the mandatory registration through Energieleveren.nl, so residents do not need to arrange this themselves.

As soon as the system is activated, residents receive their login details for the Taylor app. In many cases, this happens before they have moved in. On their first day in the new home, they can already see how much energy their roof has generated.

Aftercare that continues beyond handover

For many installations, the relationship ends on the day of handover. In Veenrijck, that is where the next phase begins.

New residents receive Just Solar’s Service Comfort package free of charge for the first three years, normally valued at €160 per year. It includes monitoring, a periodic inspection every 18 months, no call-out charges and replacement of products covered by warranty without additional costs.

Taylor provides the technical support behind that service. Because every system is continuously monitored remotely, faults can be detected early and investigated from a distance. For technical questions, Just Solar has one point of contact at Taylor, backed by engineers from Taylor’s own team in the Netherlands.

The complete system is covered by one European warranty, while the solar panels come with a 25-year product and performance warranty.

“After net metering ends, the question is no longer just how much electricity you generate, but what you do with it. Veenrijck shows what that looks like when the developer, installer, manufacturer and energy supplier work together. Residents do not need to manage the system themselves. It takes care of the energy decisions automatically. And if support is needed, there is a team in the Netherlands ready to help.”

What it delivers

For residents: a home prepared for the post-net-metering era, lower energy costs without having to manage the system themselves, clear insight into their own energy use and three years of aftercare at no additional cost.

For the developer: one energy solution across the entire project, one party coordinating the installation and homebuyers receiving a complete solution at handover.

For the installer: one system and one way of working across a large number of homes, fewer components and direct technical support from the Netherlands.

A model that can be repeated

Veenrijck is not an isolated project. Just Solar and Taylor have already completed more than 250 installations together.

Van de Mheen’s upcoming projects in Woudenberg and Nijkerk will also be delivered with Taylor. The approach developed in Veenrijck will therefore carry forward into the next residential developments.
