This innovative device was born when two entrepreneurial 
TU/e students met a researcher who had pioneered a unique technology to optimize solar cells, recognized with multiple patents. Inspired by his groundwork, they created this new technology with a vision to provide roof owners the most efficient technology for solar power generation.

Regular solar panels are made up of 108 small solar cells, divided into 6 cell strings. If local shading, micro-cracks, dirt or degradation causes a single cell to produce less power, it blocks the power of the rest of the solar panel, and even the rest of the total system, resulting in a drastic drop in energy output.
While there are add-on solutions available to reduce the impact of yield loss, like micro-inverters and panel optimizers, they only limit these effects to one solar panel, rather than the entire system, still losing an entire panel if only a part of that panel is blocked from sunlight.
taylor. takes this to the next level. Our electronics optimize the power per 1/6th of the panel. This means that only the part of the solar panel that is blocked from sunlight is effected, and the rest keeps generating energy at full power. The result? Solar panels that generate up to 20% more energy.
During 122 days we analized the data from a chimney shaded site installed with taylor cell string optimizers to calculate the energy gain compared to micro-inverters and a string inverter.
Since taylor. cell string optimizers acquire data every 5 minutes on the voltage and current of each cell string in the system, we can calculate the performance of the same identical solar cells but converted by a string inverter or micro-inverter based on data from scientific studies.

Taylor’s EMS connects devices from different brands to the energy provider of your choice (release April 2025).
This allows you to select the most advantageous energy contract for you at any given time in the coming years. Your data is also securely stored on European servers. Energy management through Taylor costs only €2 per month. If you choose a different EMS, all other Taylor functions will continue to work as usual.

An Energy Management System (EMS) helps you lower energy costs by smartly switching your solar panels, batteries, heat pumps, EV chargers, and other devices on or off as needed. With increasing feed-in penalties for solar energy, using more of your self-generated energy keeps costs down, and this will matter even more after net metering ends in 2027.Â
Your EMS can also decide when to use or feed energy back to the grid based on favorable prices, combining forecasts for your solar production and energy use with market price signals to guide all connected devices efficiently.Â
As a roof owner, you have access to two energy markets: the day-ahead market, which sets hourly rates in advance (sometimes even negative in summer), and the imbalance market, which adjusts for last-minute supply-demand changes. Besides generating more power, taylor. solar panels communicate their status every 5 minutes to the taylor.dashboard, giving you real-time insight into your solar system.
The unique aspect of taylor is that everything is visible at the cell string level, providing you with detailed and advanced insight in the performance of your system. It also enables remote identification and localization of issues by your installer or service provider. Everything at a glance, right from the mobile app or the online dashboard for desktop use.

- 01Temperature protection
The cell string optimizer switches off automatically when the temperature is too high. This reduces the (fire) risk.
- 02Hotspot prevention
The bypass diodes in regular solar panels make the cells vulnerable to short circuit, known as hotspots. These hotspots may in time permanently damage cells and may even increase the risk of fire. taylor. panels do not use these diodes simply because the inbuilt electronics replaces them.
- 03Less connectors
Most fires in solar energy systems are caused by connectors being mounted incorrectly. Because taylor cell string optimizers are integrated into the solar panel, you reduce the number of connectors in your system by 50%, significantly reducing the risk of human error in your installation.
- 04Safe voltage
In the unlikely event anything goes wrong, the system automatically switches to safe-mode. The system and the cables are then no longer carry high voltages and can be safely inspected
